The 2026 Asian Futsal Championship brings together 16 teams, including 8 group winners and 7 second-placed teams with the best results from the qualifying round, with host Indonesia being specially invited to participate.
The teams will be divided into 4 groups, competing in a round-robin to calculate ranking points. The top two teams in each group qualified for the quarter-finals. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals will take place in a knockout format to determine the champion.
According to the world futsal rankings announced by FIFA on August 29, 2025, 16 teams are divided into 4 seed groups for the draw. The Vietnam futsal team, currently ranked 26th in the world, is in the second seed group with Uzbekistan (19), Afghanistan (33) and Iraq (41).
The No. 1 seed group includes host Indonesia (23), Iran (5), Thailand (4) and Japan (13). Group 3 includes Kuwait (43), Tajikistan (46), Saudi Arabia (48) and Kyrgyzstan (49), while Group 4 includes Australia (53), Lebanon (54), South Korea (73) and Malaysia (81).
The best achievement of the Vietnam futsal team in the continental tournament was in the semi-finals in 2016, thereby winning the right to participate in the futsal World Cup finals for the first time.

The draw for the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship will take place at 2:00 p.m. on November 5, 2025 (Vietnam time) in Jakarta (Indonesia).
