The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has sent an official document to the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) and the Thai Football Federation, expressing its opposition and requesting clarification on the incident of displaying the wrong Vietnamese flag at the draw for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 and U16 Futsal Championship, taking place on the afternoon of October 28 in Nonthaburi (Thailand).
Accordingly, during the draw ceremony, the Chinese flag was displayed instead of the Vietnamese flag on the draw of the Vietnam team. In the document, VFF emphasized that this was a serious incident, which could affect the national image as well as the spirit of solidarity in the region.
VFF requested the Southeast Asian Football Federation to clarify the cause of this incident, and at the same time take strict measures to prevent similar errors from recurring in upcoming events.
VFF expressed its belief that AFF will clearly recognize the seriousness of the incident and handle it with the highest sense of responsibility, caution and professionalism.
