This afternoon (October 28), in Thailand, the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) held a draw ceremony to divide the group and schedule the competition for the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship and the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship. These are the 2 playgrounds organized for the first time exclusively for youth futsal teams in the area.
According to the draw results, at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, the Vietnam U19 futsal team is in Group A with Thailand and Brunei. Group B includes U19 Indonesia, U19 Myanmar, U19 Malaysia and U19 Cambodia.

The tournament will take place from December 23 to 29, 2025 at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium (Thailand). The teams competed in a round robin to calculate points in the group, selecting the top 2 teams in each group to enter the semi-finals to compete for a place in the final.
At the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship, the 5 participating teams include Thailand (host), U16 Indonesia, U16 Vietnam, U16 Myanmar and U16 Brunei. The teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine the 2 teams with the best results to enter the final, while the 2 teams ranked 3rd and 4th will compete for the Third Division. The tournament is held at the same location as the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Futsal Championship, in Nonthaburi (Thailand).

This is the first time the AFF has organized futsal tournaments for U16 and U19 age groups, marking an important transformation for regional youth futsal. Previously, the only tournament at the youth level was the U20 Asian Futsal Championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), but it has been suspended since 2020 due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and has not been resumed yet.
However, Vietnam's youth futsal team still maintains stable operations. Every year, the U19/20 Vietnam futsal team is regularly called up for international training and friendly matches, in which in 2024 there were 2 quality matches with the U19 Russia team. In addition, the National U20 Futsal Championship has become an important playground, contributing to the discovery and training of many promising young faces for the country's futsal.
According to the plan, to prepare for the upcoming two regional tournaments, the U19 and U16 Vietnam futsal teams are expected to focus on training from November 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.
