The coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate Team and the athletes have set a goal to conquer the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.

The Vietnamese karate team officially received the target of striving to win 3 to 4 gold medals in the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this time. 2 years ago, Vietnamese karate fighters won 6 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 6 bronze medals.

At the 33rd SEA Games, karate organized 15 events, including 13 sets of kumite medals (opposite) and 2 sets of kata medals (performance).

According to research, the 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee limits countries that are allowed to register to compete in a maximum of 12/15 events at the Games. host Thailand alone is allowed to register up to 15/15 events.

The Vietnamese karate team does not train abroad but trains full-time domestically to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games.

A representative of the Vietnam Karate Team's coaching staff said that they are waiting for an official announcement from host Thailand on the selection of the official competition venue for the 33rd SEA Games.

Previously, karate was planned to be held in Songkhla province (Thailand), but due to the impact of weather in recent times, the Organizing Committee of Thailand is considering bringing this sport to Bangkok (Thailand) to compete. However, the decision was only specifically announced on November 28 after the 33rd SEA Games Assessment Conference.

Preparing for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Karate Team registered 19 key players to compete. In which, we only participated in 2 events: kata teammates for men and women. This is the event that brought the 33rd SEA Games gold medal to karate Vietnam, so the goal that each fighter aims for is to protect the No. 1 position in Thailand.
