The Vietnamese karate team is participating in the 2025 World Championship qualifiers in France. In the early morning of October 18, fighter Nguyen Thi Thu achieved the official weight of 50kg for women to participate in the finals of the 2025 World Championship.
In the qualifying round, Nguyen Thi Thu played in the group matches and won absolutely. She beat Mishovska Mihaela (Macedonia) 5-1, Lahirssa Yamina (Canada) 3-1 and Rigoreva Elizaveta (Russia) 7-1 to top the group. After that, Nguyen Thi Thu played in the knockout round and won 3-2 against Tsang Yee Ting (Hong Kong - China).
The achievement helped Nguyen Thi Thu enter the group of 6 players with the best results. According to the regulations of the World Karate Federation, 6 fighters are officially allowed to participate in the finals of this year's world tournament. The 2025 World Championship finals will be held in Egypt in November.
The Vietnamese karate team also has boxer Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly (61kg women) participating in this qualifying round. Because we are focusing on the 33rd SEA Games arena, some key faces will not participate in the qualifying round of the 2025 World Championship in France. The qualifying round will end on October 19 local time in France.
The Vietnamese karate team once won an official ticket to the 2024 World Team Championship. At that time, we will compete in the kumite (resistance) event for the women's team.
