Nguyen Thi Ngoan has been withdrawn from the list of participants in the 33rd SEA Games by the Vietnam Karate Team's coaching staff due to a severed tendon injury. The female player underwent surgery at the Vietnam Sports Hospital on November 5 to completely treat her injury.
Nguyen Thi Ngoan suffered an injury during her recent professional training and was given the best treatment by the Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Karate Department (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) at the Vietnam Sports Hospital.
Before her injury, Nguyen Thi Ngoan was one of the main fighters of the kumite (opposite) event of the Vietnam Karate Team.
Since the beginning of 2025, Nguyen Thi Ngoan has won the gold medal in the women's kumite team event at the 2025 Asian Championship.
She also won a gold medal at the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship. At the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, Nguyen Thi Ngoan was a member of the gold medal winning team in the women's kumite event.
Due to the player's injury near the time of competing in the 33rd SEA Games, the coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate Team had to find a personnel solution to replace Nguyen Thi Ngoan.
Currently, members of the female kumite group are practicing with the most stable spirit. The whole team trains at the National High-level Athletes Training Center (Hanoi).
