The Association of football (ANFA) has announced a list of 33 players from the Nepal national team called up to prepare for the two matches against Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. According to the schedule, the Nepal team will start training from September 23. The training sessions of this South Asian team will be closed to the media.
Most of the Ne team's players are playing domestically. Others are playing for some clubs in Cambodia and Bangladesh. In general, coach Matt Ross has called up the best players, notably captain Kiran Chemjong (107 appearances for the national team) or striker Anjan Bista (scoring 13 goals in 70 matches for the Nepal team).
The Nepal team is currently ranked 176th in the world and is being led by Australian coach Matt Ross. Since the beginning of 2025, they have played a number of matches with quite positive results, such as winning 1-0 against Singapore and drawing with Hong Kong (China).
In Group F, the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Nepal team played 2 matches and lost both. They lost 0-2 to Malaysia and 1-2 to Laos. According to the schedule, the Nepal team will play the Vietnam team in 2 matches in October 2025, all of which will take place in Ho Chi Minh City.
On October 9, the Nepal team will meet the Vietnam team at Binh Duong Stadium. On October 14, the two teams will meet again at Thong Nhat Stadium - the location chosen by the South Asian team as their home stadium. Both matches will take place at 7:30 p.m.
The result of this match will directly affect the ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals of coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
