Discussing in the group, Mr. Truong Xuan Cu - Vice President of the Association of the Elderly in Vietnam expressed his agreement with the draft political report.
Mr. Truong Xuan Cu mentioned Resolution 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo on a number of breakthrough solutions, strengthening protection, care and improving people's health and the speech of General Secretary To Lam said that he really wanted to develop a nursing home model to care for the elderly such as students, welcoming them in the morning and afternoon at the national conference to thoroughly grasp and implement the 4 new resolutions of the Politburo recently.
Mr. Truong Xuan Cu expressed his great sympathy for this model. According to Mr. Cu, Vietnam currently has 17 million elderly people, however, the number of people cared for in new care facilities of nearly 12,000 people (equivalent to 0.7%) is very low compared to a country with average income and the goal for people that is of great interest to the Party and State. Therefore, caring activities and raising the rate of care for the elderly during the day so that the elderly can live happily, healthily, and usefully are extremely necessary.
Mr. Cu said that currently, there are 3 forms of elderly care: boarding, day care and home care, in which the form of boarding care is popular, attracting many elderly people to participate. He suggested that it is necessary to study and develop mechanisms and policies, mobilize social resources, and strengthen day care facilities for the elderly.
Strive to increase the number of elderly people receiving day care to 10% by 2045 (170,000 people), achieving the goal of the elderly living happily, healthily and usefully.
In addition, he also proposed that there should be policies to develop more enterprises owned by the elderly. Mr. Truong Xuan Cu said that with an incentive policy and creating conditions for the elderly, promoting and contributing knowledge and experience of the elderly...
