In the taekwondo event held at Fashion Island, Nguyen Trong Phuc and Trinh Thi Kim Ha competed in the standard mixed-use doubles performance event. The two Vietnamese athletes won silver medals when achieving technical scores of 8.50 and 8.38, respectively, while the Singapore team achieved 8.84 and 8.50 to bring home gold medals.
After the end of the final round, the leader of the Vietnamese taekwondo team - Ms. Thu Trang and coach Minh Tu officially submitted a complaint to the Organizing Committee of the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the reflection, the Singaporean athlete pair made a total of 3 mistakes in the competition, in which the female athlete made 2 mistakes and the male athlete made 1 mistake. However, these violations were not handled by the referee.
The Vietnamese taekwondo team has completed all procedures, including paying fees and submitting complaints, while waiting for the results from the SEA Games Organizing Committee. Many Vietnamese reporters also gathered outside the technical room to monitor the complaint handling process.

Not only Vietnam, the Philippines taekwondo team also submitted a report on the scoring method in the semi-final. President of the Philippine Taekwondo Federation - Mr. Tolentino confirmed that the team had submitted a petition, saying that the referee did not comply with regulations and refused to release a video when there was a dispute over the score.
Thus, both Vietnam and the Philippines have officially complained to the referees at the 33rd SEA Games after controversial matches over technical errors and scoring. The complaint procedure is carried out in accordance with regulations, waiting for the organizing committee to consider and handle.
