On August 9, Ta Ngoc Tuong broke the national record when she won the 400m distance at the 2025 National Athletics Championship in Da Nang.
The final of the men's 400m event had 8 athletes participating and Ta Ngoc Tuong (Phu Tho) won against famous seniors such as Tran Dinh Son, Le Ngoc Phu, Tran Nhat Hoang.
Ta Ngoc Tuong's achievement is 45 seconds 59, breaking the old national record of 45 seconds 99 set by Quach Cong Lich in 2015. This year, Quach Cong Lich will not compete because he has retired.
The result of Ta Ngoc Tuong is the first national record at the 2025 National Athletics Championship.
The women's 400m event witnessed athlete Hoang Thi Minh Hanh (Hanoi) winning the gold medal with a result of 52 seconds 55. Quach Thi Lan did not win a medal in this event at this year's tournament.
Another notable result on the competition day was that Ha Thi Thu (Ho Chi Minh City) won the women's 100m distance championship with a result of 11 seconds 68. She maintained the championship she had since last year and continued to be the fastest female athlete in Vietnam.
In the men's 100m event, the champion was Nguyen Van Quyet (Hanoi) - achieved a result of 10 seconds 58. Athlete Ngan Ngoc Nghia (People's Public Security) finished second with a time of 10 seconds 63.
