On the evening of July 25, the Vietnamese team returned to Hanoi after a strong 7-0 victory over Timor-Leste in Group A ASEAN Cup 2026 at Chonburi Stadium (Thailand).
Immediately after arriving in Hanoi, the whole team quickly settled down to prepare for the next match against Singapore at home on July 31.
According to the plan, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will return to training from the morning of July 26 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The coaching staff will prioritize physical recovery exercises after the competition journey, and at the same time deploy professional training plans to aim for the confrontation with Singapore.
Speaking after the victory over Timor-Leste, coach Kim Sang-sik said that the whole team needs to quickly put aside the favorable results in the opening match to focus on the road ahead.
The important thing is to forget about this result. The players need to recover well. We will continue to train and I will choose 11 players with the best form for the match against Singapore," the Korean strategist emphasized.
Mr. Kim Sang-sik also expects his students to maintain the fighting spirit, confidence and determination shown in the opening match to continue to aim for positive results in the group stage.
The victory over Timor-Leste helps the Vietnamese team have a favorable start at ASEAN Cup 2026. However, the confrontation with Singapore is predicted to bring more challenges, and at the same time be of great significance in the competition for a ticket to the semi-finals of Group A. With home advantage and excitement after the opening match, the Vietnamese team aims to continue to win all 3 points to consolidate their position in the rankings.
