At the tournament, U16 Vietnam women's team showed impressive performance when they won all group stage matches, defeating U16 Cambodia women's team and U16 Myanmar women's team to qualify for the semi-finals.
In the semi-final match against Thailand U16 Women's Team, students of coach Okiyama Masahiko played hard but lost 1-3, thereby entering the third-place match with the home team Indonesia U16 Women's Team.
In this match, despite having to face great pressure from the audience at Manahan Stadium, U16 Vietnam women's team played resiliently, holding the score at 1-1 after 2 rounds. In the brain-weighing penalty shootout, the Vietnamese girls excellently won 7-6, ending the tournament with a proud bronze medal.
According to the plan, after returning to Vietnam, the team will continue to practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi).
After the September 2 holiday, coach Okiyama Masahiko kept the list of players participating in the Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship to prepare for a 10-day training trip in Germany (from September 9 to September 21).
This is an important preparation step towards the 2026 U17 Women's Asian qualifiers, where U17 Vietnam Women's will compete at Binh Duong Stadium (HCMC) in Group D in October 2025.
