U17 Vietnam has created a historical milestone when defeating U17 UAE with a score of 3-2 in the last match of Group C of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship, thereby topping the group and officially winning the right to enter the quarterfinals, and also winning a ticket to participate in the 2026 U17 World Cup.
The match took place in the early morning of May 14 (Vietnam time) in Saudi Arabia. Despite conceding an early goal, U17 Vietnam still played resiliently, organized a reasonable playing style and created an impressive comeback with three important goals, thereby closing the group stage with 6 points.
This result, along with the fact that the remaining match of Group C ended in a draw, helped coach Cristiano Roland's team rise to the top of the group, win a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Asian tournament and for the first time in the history of Vietnamese youth football to participate in the U17 World Cup arena.
Immediately after the historic feat, the Vietnam Football Federation decided to reward 1 billion VND to the entire U17 Vietnam team as a recognition for this special achievement. This is considered a large reward for a youth team, reflecting the important meaning of the World Cup ticket.
U17 Vietnam's opponent in the quarterfinals will be U17 Australia. This is a team that has faced U17 Vietnam at the regional level recently, promising to create a highly competitive match when coach Cristiano Roland's team is in a very high spirit after completing the historic goal.
The victory over U17 UAE not only brought outstanding achievements but also opened up a major turning point for Vietnamese youth football, in the context of the national U17 team participating in the World Cup for the first time.
