In the afternoon of August 9th, U20 Vietnam had their first training match in a training trip in Japan when facing Osaka Economics University (Osaka Economics University). The two teams drew 0-0.
This is the first match in a total of 6 training matches of U20 Vietnam in Japan. The result is not the most important goal for the coaching staff at this stage. Instead, the matches are seen as opportunities for the team to check personnel, coordination ability and adaptability of players in actual competition conditions.
In the match against Osaka University of Economics, the head coach of U20 Vietnam actively changed the squad between halves. The players were used alternately to help the coaching staff have more basis to assess the form, coordination ability as well as the adaptability of each position.
Having 6 consecutive practice matches in a short time also helps U20 Vietnam accumulate more playing experience and improve tactical plans. After the first match, the team will continue to play on August 10, 12, 8, 13, 8, 15 and 16. 8.
The next opponents of U20 Vietnam are Koukou High School, Kwansei Gakuin, Gojo High School, JFL Tiamo Hirakata and Osaka Economics High School.
The training trip in Japan takes place from August 7 to August 17, and is considered an important preparation step for U20 Vietnam before the 2027 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers. Through practice matches, the coaching staff will continue to improve the squad, playing style and tactical options suitable for each opponent.
In Group C of the 2027 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers, taking place from August 31 to September 6 at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho), U20 Vietnam will meet U20 DPRK, U20 Palestine and U20 Iran respectively.
U20 Vietnam's goal is to have the best preparation before entering official matches at home.
