The work of the front line of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is currently facing many obstacles when many areas in Songkhla are deeply flooded, traffic is stagnant and there is a widespread power outage.
According to Thai media, Songkhla and many southern provinces are in a state of emergency due to floods. Hat Yai and some neighboring districts have been cordoned off in red, requiring residents to evacuate due to heavy rain from November 19 to 23, causing flooding more than 1 meter deep on many roads. More than 80 pumps were deployed, the army participated in supporting people and approaching isolated areas.
In that context, the survey of the stadium, accommodation and logistics items serving U22 Vietnam was significantly delayed. The 33rd SEA Games Organizing Committee also faces great pressure when it has to urgently overcome natural disasters to ensure preparation progress. Heavy rain is forecast to continue until November 25, making the progress of restoring the power system, training ground and competition field unpredictable.
The leaders of the Vietnamese sports delegation said that they will send officers from Bangkok to Songkhla as soon as conditions permit, in order to grasp the actual situation and ensure that the station work is deployed as soon as possible. Currently, all flights to Songkhla are still suspended due to weather.
While waiting for updated information from the host country, U22 Vietnam will continue to train in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games.
