The project's goal is to build section 1 (from Phu Huu bridge to Binh Thai intersection), section 2 (from Binh Thai intersection to Pham Van Dong intersection) of Ring Road 2 with a total length of 6 km.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Trinh Linh Phuong - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, the investor said that when completed, both sections will connect with the third section being implemented by the investor to close the East Ring Road 2 of Ho Chi Minh City.

The project is invested in construction in 2 phases:
Phase 1 will build parallel roads on both sides of the planned 67m road, with 3 lanes on each side. Construction of Binh Thai intersection in the form of a complete townhouse; construction of an overpass on Vo Nguyen Giap Street...
Phase 2 of the project will be completed according to the planned roadway of 67m, in which priority will be given to the construction of a 6-lane main route in the reserve land in the middle.
The total investment in construction phase 1 of section 1 and section 2 is VND 5,239 billion. The compensation and site clearance work is VND 8,627 billion.

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board is focusing on implementing a package for relocating technical infrastructure, clearing bombs and mines and coordinating with consulting units to implement design, estimate and select construction contractors. After that, construction packages will be implemented in September 2025 and the entire project will be completed by 2027.
The project is expected to increase traffic connections from Cat Lai port area, Phu Huu... to the Ring Road when completed. Thereby, helping the circulation of goods, promoting economic and social development in the area; at the same time, reducing traffic congestion in the eastern gateway area of the city.
