In the last days of November 2025, the atmosphere of demolition and relocation of houses was bustling along the entire route, from Phuoc Long ward, Do Xuan Hop street, Vo Nguyen Giap parallel road to Binh Thai intersection. Hundreds of households have moved their belongings, removed signs, and moved their houses to hand over the site for a key transport project in Ho Chi Minh City, a strategic route in completing the connection of the eastern gateway.

Ms. Thuy, who lives near Binh Thai intersection, said that the congestion on Do Xuan Hop Street has become a nightmare every weekend, and students and workers are often late. She hopes the project will be implemented soon to reduce traffic pressure at the eastern gateway, even though she is in the area of clear clearance and worries about livelihoods: "I just hope to have a place to resettle soon to stabilize my life".

In the context of people's urgent relocation, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) has updated the latest progress of two sections preparing to start construction: section 1 from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap Street (3.578 km) and section 2 from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Pham Van Dong Street (2.446 km).
According to the Traffic Department, the Thu Duc City Compensation and Site Clearance Department has planned to reclaim land, with the goal of prioritizing the completion of the entire route from Phu Huu Bridge to Road 79 (Ring Road 2, Section 1) and the area from the approach of Binh Thai intersection to Pham Van Dong Street (Ring Road 2, Section 2) in early November 2025. The completion of these two areas aims to create a clean land fund to implement the construction part immediately upon start.
For households that have not yet complied with the handover of the site, the city will continue to mobilize and propagate in November 2025. If they still do not agree to hand over, the land recovery will be carried out by administrative measures in December 2025, in accordance with legal regulations.
At the same time, the Traffic Department is selecting a contractor and announcing the start date for the two construction packages on December 19, 2025.

The Ring Road 2 project is more than 64 km long, of which about 50 km has been completed. The remaining 14 km, divided into 4 sections, is being accelerated by Ho Chi Minh City to start construction, aiming to complete the entire route in 2027. When completed, the route will reduce the load on inner-city roads, shorten travel time and create momentum for socio-economic development in the eastern region.
