The final match between Vietnam and the Netherlands took place late on March 16 (Vietnam time) in Viersen city (Germany).
Facing Jean Paul De Bruijn, Bao Phuong Vinh had a smooth start when leading 13-9 after 12 turns.
However, the Dutch player had an impressive comeback, making a series of 11 consecutive turns to take the lead 36-27.
De Bruijn ended the match with a score of 40, while Phuong Vinh only had 2 more points in the final round and accepted a 34-40 loss after 28 turns.
Phuong Vinh's defeat helped the Netherlands officially win the championship, because in the next match, Dick Jaspers also defeated Tran Quyet Chien with a score of 40-38.
This victory helped the Dutch team win the world team carom billiard championship for the 5th time.
Although not crowned, this is the second best achievement in the history of the Vietnam team in the world team billiards tournament. Before that, Vietnam won the championship for the first time last year.
The next world championship for 3-cushion carom is the World Cup in Ho Chi Minh City from May 19 to May 25, where Vietnam's player Tran Duc Minh is the defending champion.
The most recent World Cup champion is also the representative of Vietnam when Tran Thanh Luc was crowned in Bogota (Colombia).
