Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien are two Vietnamese faces participating in the world team carom tournament, taking place in Viersen city, Germany from March 13 to March 16.
On the night of March 15 (Vietnam time), two players entered the quarter-finals to meet opponents who were considered weaker,lierlier, Rafael vera and Christian Hernandez (Mexico). Both Messican players are outside the world's top 50.
vera suffered a defeat against Quyet Chien when Vietnam's number one player continuously used beautiful scoring lines, maintaining a safe distance, before winning with a score of 40-28 after 23 turns.
Meanwhile, Bao Phuong Vinh continued to maintain their winning form in the tournament, defeating Hernandez 40-14 after only 16 turns. Phuong Vinh's performance in four matches in the tournament is 1.798 points per turn.
Defeating Mexico helped Vietnam enter the semi-finals of team billiards. The opponents of Bao Phuong Vinh and Tran Quyet Chien are two players from Belgium. The match will take place at 5:00 p.m. on March 16 (Vietnam time). In the group stage, the two teams drew when Quyet Chien lost to Ceulemans, while Phuong Vinh won against Roland Forthomme.
The World 3-cushion carom tournament has been held annually since 1990. This year's tournament has 16 teams, divided into 4 groups, each group has 4 teams, playing a round-robin to select 8 teams to enter the quarter-finals.
The matches took place on two different tables, each player met the opponent for one goal. In the knockout round, if the two teams are tied, the tie-break will take place in a parallel format, with players playing on the same table.
