The Vietnam Chess Federation has made a preliminary list of chess players preparing for the above tournament and has reported to the Vietnam Sports Administration.
On June 9, the Vietnam Chess Federation issued a Notice on Regulations on selecting national chess players to participate in the 2026 Olympiad.
The chess player selection procedures must be specific (including 8 steps), with the athlete's wishes recorded in writing and then selected according to professional standards.
The notice clearly states: "Professional criteria must ensure the requirements for selecting forces in an objective and transparent direction, prioritizing measurable bases such as the elo coefficient with FIDE standards, achievements in standard content, recent performance, number of matches meeting standards, international competition experience, participation conditions and requirements for building the strongest possible squad.
