The Vietnam Sports Administration and the Vietnam Chess Federation will organize the 2026 National Team Chess Championship from June 12 to June 22.
All units nationwide registering chess players to participate will hold a technical session with professional departments on June 12 to decide the final athlete list.
According to experts' forecasts, top faces such as Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son, Le Tuan Minh, Pham Le Thao Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung, Vo Thi Kim Phung... are expected to participate.
The tournament will compete in rapid chess, blitz chess, blitz chess, standard chess for men's and women's groups for chess competitions. In addition, chess will also compete in mixed doubles for men and women in chess competitions.
With ASEAN chess, the tournament will take place in the men's, women's rapid chess, blitz chess, standard chess and mixed doubles.
The tournament regulations stipulate the method of calculating team points to consider the overall ranking: "Team ranking: calculate the total ranking achievements of 4 male and 4 female chess players (2 male players, 2 female players with ASEAN chess) ranking the highest individual of each unit.
If the overall ranking is equal, then consider the total points; if they are still equal, then the team with a higher individual ranking is ranked higher. The team ranked fourth is considered to be tied for 3rd place.
Mixed doubles ranking: considered in order of total match points (2 wins, 1 draw, 0 losses), total set points achieved by each team, total head-to-head points in the group of pairs with the same group of points; Buchholz coefficient (Berger coefficient if playing in a round-robin); number of black-handed games; number of black-handed wins (calculated in the position of male chess player). The fourth-placed team is considered equal to 3rd place".
