Boxer Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy and Do Huy Hoang have qualified for the final of their event at the 2025 World Games of wushu.
Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy beat Chan Tsz Ching of Hong Kong (China) 2-0 in the semi-finals of the women's 60kg weightlifting event. She will face Li Zhiqin (China) in the gold medal match of the 2025 World Games taking place on the evening of August 12 local time.
Meanwhile, boxer Do Huy Hoang will compete in the men's 56kg weightlifting final against opponent Tang Sishuo (China) on the evening of August 12.
The Vietnamese wushu team had player Ngo Thi Phuong Nga participate in the women's 52kg weightlifting medal match on the same evening.
This year, the 2022 World Games champion, Duong Thuy Vi, did not compete as successfully as expected. She participated in her performances (taolu) but only ranked 9th overall. Athlete Dang Tran Phuong Nhi also did not win any medals.
As of the morning of August 12, Vietnamese sports have not won medals at the 2025 World Games. However, if Thu Thuy and Huy Hoang qualify for the final, we will definitely have medals at this year's World Games.
At another event, fighter muay Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat finished the competition and returned home. Duy Nhat did not win the men's 57kg weightlifting bronze medal match, so he finished fourth overall at the 2025 World Games.
