Luckily to have a "cheap but... expensive" coach
In the days leading up to Roland Garros, Nole has taken fans from one surprise to another because of his decisions. First, the entire coaching staff was fired for a series of poor performance results for nearly a year. He then collaborated with Andre Agassi to get his professional support.
Andrre Agassi is one of the legends and also had time to dominate the felt ball village. Therefore, to invite Agassi to be a coach is not a simple thing. Remember, Andy Murray - the world's No. 1 tennis player once shared that he really wants to have smart tips and tactics from Agassi to be able to overthrow Djokovic at the peak of his form (during the time of farewell to the current coach Ivan Lendl). However, many times Agassi has deceived that Murray's desire even though at that time, the Scottish player was still playing very stable.
But with Djokovic approaching the bottom of his form, Agassi accepted. It can be said that this is a big risk for Agassi but he still accepted this challenge, just to please Steffi Graff - the legend of women's tennis with 22 Grand Slam titles, his partner and also the one who always convinced him to bring Djokovic back.
Many people would think that convincing Agassi would be difficult, but the price Nole would offer him would not be small. However, the 47-year-old strategist accepted to train Nole for free.
Decision to "eat a lot"
Inviting Agassi was also one of Nole's rather risky decisions because since retiring, he has never accepted to be offered a coaching position by any professional player.
We are both very excited about this collaboration and want to try and see how far we can do it. I do not focus on achievements in Paris because this is just the beginning for us to understand each other better.
Obviously, Andre is someone I admire greatly in both career and personal life. What he has been through is what I want to aim for, Nole excitedly talked about his goals for the new coach.
Preparing to become a father for the second time, Nole has more concerns with his family than tennis. Unable to balance between family and career was one of the reasons why he had to say goodbye to Boris Becker when he could not find a common voice. But for Agassi, it is different, both of his children were born while he was still playing at the top, so he understood Nole's feelings and knew which way to steer this ship in the wrong direction.
After more than a month of working together, Djokovic and Agassi may not be able to fully understand each other, but looking at what Nole showed in the tournament in front of Wimbledon, it is not too much to say that they have started to coordinate more well.
However, is this understanding enough for the former world No. 1 to successfully finish at Wimbledon? The answer is very difficult because the ship that both teachers and students are stepping on is still not really in the flow, they need more time to rebuild a new empire for the Serbian tennis player together.
Therefore, it is impossible for Djokovic to return to the image of a "Wolf Running on the Hill" as fans have often compared it. Therefore, at Wimbledon this time, fans should not put too much expectation on the performance of the tennis player who has 12 Grand Slam titles.
