The organizers of the ASIAD 20 wushu event held a professional meeting and drawn lots for competition on September 18 in Aichi-Nagoya (Japan).
From the draw results, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese wushu team assessed that each martial artist had a chance to compete for medal achievements, however, they must focus on maintaining their highest form.
ASIAD 20 wushu will be held from September 20 to September 24.
Taolu (performance) events are held from September 20th to September 23rd and each day there is a final event for gold medals.
The sanda (combat) weight classes take place from September 20 to September 24, with the final on the last day.
In addition to the taolu event, the Vietnamese wushu team will participate in 6 combat weight classes at ASIAD 2026 (2 women, 4 men).
For women, martial artist Ngo Thi Phuong Nga participated in the 52kg women's weight class. She was drawn to meet Davaajargal Purevjav (Mongolia) in the first match.
This event has 15 athletes participating.
In the women's 60kg weight class, martial artist Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy will face Allina Shossova (Kazakhstan) in the first match. The event also has 15 martial artists participating.
For men, Dinh Van Tam competes in the 56kg weight class and will face Carlos Jr Baylon (Philippines) in the 1st round.
Meanwhile, Hua Van Doan (60kg male) had to face Karim Iminzhanov (Kazakhstan) in his first match.
Martial artist Nguyen Khac Kien will participate in the 65kg event, facing opponent Oudomoeth (Laos), while Truong Van Chuong competing in the men's 70kg weight class will face martial artist Iat Wai Un of Macau (China).
At ASIAD 20, the Vietnamese wushu team aims to win medals and strive to reach the final in the sparring event.
At ASIAD 19, the Vietnamese wushu athlete won 3 bronze medals.
