Athlete Duong Thuy Vi is the most successful and experienced athlete of the Vietnam Wushu Team participating in the 2025 World Championship.
The team's coaching staff registered 12 players to participate in this year's tournament in Brazil from August 31.
In the Vietnam Wushu Team to Brazil, there are two fighters who won the world gold medal in 2023, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (60kg women) and Nguyen Thi Lan (48kg women).
The goal of the Vietnam Wushu Team is to strive for the best results in Brazil. In the 2023 tournament, we finished second overall with 5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 3 bronze medals. The players who won gold medals at that time were Dang Tran Phuong Nhi (two), Huynh Do Dat, Nguyen Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy.
Duong Thuy Vi won gold medals at the world championships in 2013 and 2017. Before going to Brazil, she attended the 2025 World Games but did not win a medal. The Vietnamese wushu team continues to let Duong Thuy Vi compete in the fields of applied arts and swordsmithing (taolu) at the 2025 World Championship.
This year's tournament will compete in the men's weightlifting category including 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg, 90kg, 100kg, over 100kg and the women's weightlifting category: 48kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg.
