In his latest statement from the Middle East, former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez announced that he is ready to retire at the end of this year.
Xavi said he has a plan to get more involved in management if he gives up his football career. Since leaving Barcelona to join Al Sadd club, the 37-year-old midfielder has been learning his coaching skills to continue his passion for the ball.
The 2010 World Cup champion revealed that the time in Qatar has given him many valuable lessons, thereby being able to move closer to his coaching career. Xavi also leaves open the possibility of becoming a coach for a club in Qatar before returning to Europe.
"This year will be the last year I am still a professional football player. I have a coaching license and can start this job next year.
I really feel lucky because in the last years of my career, I have not suffered any injuries. However, my physical strength has decreased a lot and it is difficult to return to the fullness of the previous year," Xavi shared.
Thus, the talented Spanish midfielder will hang up his boots at the end of this year, leaving a very glorious career. In 17 years of playing professionally, Xavi has won many noble titles for Barcelona and the Spanish national team.
Xavi hangs up his boots not long after Pirlo decided to do the same. If Pirlo is considered an Italian composer, Xavi will also have a similar position to the Spanish national team. Not only that, Xavi is also the conductor during Barcelona's most successful era in history.
