The Ministry of Industry and Trade (Domestic Market Management and Development Department) has just issued document No. 396/TTTN-XD dated February 12, 2026, sent to the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities; key gasoline and oil trading traders and gasoline and oil distribution traders on the time to manage gasoline and oil prices during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.
According to Decree No. 80/2023/ND-CP dated November 17, 2023 of the Government amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 95/2021/ND-CP and Decree No. 83/2014/ND-CP on gasoline and oil business, the time to regulate gasoline and oil prices is implemented on Thursdays every week.
In case the operating time coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday, the operation will be adjusted flexibly. Accordingly, if Thursday coincides with the 29th or 30th day of Tet, the operation will be carried out on the immediately preceding Wednesday; if Thursday falls on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd days of Tet, the operating time will be carried out on the 4th day of Tet.
For operating periods that coincide with holidays as prescribed, if Thursday coincides with the first day of the holiday, the operation will be carried out on the immediately preceding Wednesday; if it coincides with the remaining holidays, it will be carried out on the first working day after the holiday. In case the prices of gasoline and oil items fluctuate abnormally, affecting socio-economic development and people's lives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will report to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on appropriate operating time.
According to current regulations, Thursday, February 19, 2026 coincides with the 3rd day of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026. Therefore, the gasoline and oil price adjustment period on February 19, 2026 will be moved to Friday, February 20, 2026 (ie, the 4th day of the Lunar New Year).
The Ministry of Industry and Trade requests local Departments of Industry and Trade together with key traders and petroleum distribution traders to proactively implement the correct operating time according to regulations, ensuring smooth and stable petroleum supply during the Lunar New Year.
