"Pick up" fish right on the sea
The first anchovy season of the fishermen of Phu Yen province started in January and ended around the fourth lunar month. This year, the coastal waters are quite smooth, the anchovies are less moving, creating favorable conditions for fishing boats. Many ships used the fishing mesh to catch the bold coast, plus the high price, so the fishermen were excited to go out every day.
Just returning after a night of fishing, fisherman Nguyen Van Son (An Phu commune, Tuy Hoa city) excitedly said: "This year's fish season is favorable, the sea is quiet and fish. I go with 5 people, early in the morning to bring 2-3 tons of fish".

Anchovies after being classified, divided into baskets from 15-20kg to sell to traders. With short-term fishing vessels, fresh fish, small businesses bought at the wharf with the price from 160,000-200,000 VND/basket. Except for expenses, each fisherman can earn from 1-2 million after a sea trip.
The anchovy appears in the area about 2-5 nautical miles from the shore. Each train usually has 5-8 fishermen, the time of exploitation from night to morning or morning to evening. Anchovies are fragrant, delicious, favored by the market, so many traders also use ships to buy at the sea.

Mr. Nguyen Toan (An Hoa Hai commune, Tuy An district) - traders who specialize in buying anchovies - said that this fish is easy to consume, early in the morning, he has to go to the wharf to buy new fish. This year the fish won, the price ranges from 7,000-10,000 VND/kg.
Anchovies reach the international market
Not only is fresh, anchovies are also sold to processing workshops to dry, make fish sauce or export. As a result, the value of the product is improved, creating more jobs and stable income for people in the coastal area.

At the processing workshop of Ms. Dinh Thi Bich Phuong (An Hoa Hai commune, Tuy An district), the atmosphere these days is more bustling than ever. Ms. Phuong shared: "My family has been working on this job for more than 20 years. Fish bought from fishermen will be steamed, exposed one sun and classified."
Anchovies - the smallest type - sold to export companies with prices from 90,000-100,000 VND/kg. And Ba Lai anchovy (medium) and anchovy (the largest type) will be steamed, dried to make dried fish or incubated for fish sauce.

Selling every day from 1-1.5 tons of dried anchovies, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nga (An Chan commune), owner of a processing facility, said: "From January until now, the facility is always busy. This anchovy area is delicious and firm, so it is very popular in processing."
According to the report of Tuy An district, there are currently 7 large -scale dried anchovy processing facilities, mainly concentrated in An Chan and An Hoa Hai communes. Thanks to the abundant source of fish, from the beginning of the year, the output of dried anchovies has reached more than 300 tons, up 15% over the same period last year.
From fishing village to fish sauce brand
Taking advantage of the rich source of anchovies, many beach villages in Phu Yen have formed famous traditional fish sauce villages such as My Quang (An Chan, Tuy An district), Long Thuy (An Phu, Tuy Hoa City), Ganh Do (Xuan Tho 2, Song Cau Town) ... Many households have built their own brands, product diversity and have foothold in the market.
At the Hong Gia Phuc fish sauce facility (An Phu commune, Tuy Hoa city), every day Nguyen Thi Huong sells about 300 liters of fish sauce: "From the beginning of the season until now, I have bought about 70 tons of anchovies to brew salt. Anchovy in Tuy Hoa, Tuy An has a special flavor, making delicious fish sauce, so many customers prefer".
According to Mr. Dao Quang Minh, Director of Phu Yen Fisheries Sub -Department, the weather is favorable, so the coastal fishermen of Tuy An, Cau river, Dong Hoa and Tuy Hoa City have won the anchovy season. Most fishermen only need to go to short -term exploitation in the spleen, dock immediately, so they both make sure fresh fish and cost costs. As a result, dried fish processing facilities and fish sauce have abundant raw materials, helping people in the coastal areas have more income and keep fire for traditional trade villages.
