World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices today simultaneously decreased. At 8:19 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 101.63 USD/barrel, down 0.33 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.32%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 101.94 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 99.73 USD/barrel.
Brent oil price was at 108.12 USD/barrel, down 0.05 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.05%. Brent oil price closed the previous trading session at 108.17 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 106.03 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, world oil prices fell amid Iran's new 14-point peace negotiation proposal with the US, increasing expectations that the conflict could be gradually controlled.
In the last trading session of last week, world oil prices plummeted sharply after information that Iran officially transferred the latest draft negotiation proposal to the US.
The new diplomatic move is assessed to be able to break the prolonged deadlock in efforts to find a solution to end the conflict, thereby contributing to easing concerns about the risk of disruption to global energy supplies - a factor that has pushed oil prices up sharply for a long time.
Analysts believe that the proposal from Iran is bringing hope that the US can find a way out of the current tense situation, instead of continuing to prolong the conflict and put more pressure on the energy market.
This is seen as the first positive signal after weeks of tense confrontation, opening up the possibility of cooling down the situation in the Middle East if the two sides resume the substantive dialogue process.
According to analysts, the expectation of a de-escalation scenario has caused market sentiment to change rapidly, from a state of concern about tight supply to cautiously monitoring negotiation prospects, thereby creating pressure to push oil prices down.
