At the Conference to summarize the work in 2025 and deploy tasks for 2026 of the Agriculture and Environment sector, Chairman of the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association Nguyen Thanh Binh presented a paper on the bright spots of the vegetable and fruit industry towards the export milestone of 10 billion USD.
According to the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association, by December 31, 2025, Vietnam's total vegetable and fruit export turnover is estimated at 8.5 to 8.6 billion USD, an increase of about 1.3 to 1.4 billion USD, equivalent to an increase of nearly 18% compared to 2024.

The Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association believes that this result is thanks to businesses actively implementing many activities such as: strengthening connections and links between domestic businesses; coordinating with localities to connect export businesses with processing and trading businesses and farmers and cooperatives in localities. The Association and localities have also organized many trade promotion activities, bringing businesses to participate in domestic and international fairs.
The Association has also actively mobilized and guided producers and businesses to properly implement regulations and standards of the import market, contributing to helping Vietnamese vegetables and fruits become increasingly popular, while reducing violations in export activities.

These achievements are the result of tireless efforts and endeavors of many classes in society, from Party committees and authorities at all levels to relevant ministries and sectors, which have created conditions and removed difficulties for the vegetable and fruit industry to develop strongly. In which, the role of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is very great. Besides, there is the creativity and dedication of producers and the business community when constantly expanding production areas, conquering new and challenging markets and lands," said the Chairman of the Vietnam Vegetable and Fruit Association.
Besides the great achievements, the vegetable and fruit industry still has some limitations and weaknesses that need to be overcome such as: unstable quality; unevenness is not high; there is still a situation of surplus on some products; the traceability system is not complete; the issuance and management of planting area codes and packaging facilities is still inadequate; the supervision of inspection, appraisal and certification facilities for exported goods is still limited, affecting export activities, especially for exports to China. The link between domestic production and consumption is not sustainable and may break down when the market fluctuates.
Stepping into 2026, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh said that with this growth momentum, in 2026, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports may reach 10 billion USD.
The Association also proposed to focus on improving product quality and safety, ensuring form and quality suitable to market tastes, fully meeting market requirements. Promote propaganda and dissemination to producers and businesses participating in the supply chain. At the same time, it requested specialized agencies to strengthen guidance, inspection, supervision and strictly implement sanctions to form self-awareness throughout the chain.
Completing the traceability system in a modern direction, capable of international intercommunication, protecting the rights of Vietnamese producers, consumers and businesses. Rectifying inspection, appraisal and certification activities for exported agricultural products, ensuring quick customs clearance, while maintaining the prestige of Vietnamese goods.
