Coffee prices increased sharply on Friday, with Arabica coffee prices reaching a 3.5-month high and Robusta coffee prices reaching a 3-month high. Coffee prices continued to increase for 3 weeks on Friday due to concerns about the weather in Brazil. On Monday, Somar Meteorologia reported that Minas Gerais, Brazil's largest Arabica coffee growing region, had no rain in the week ended on August 16. Reports of damage to some Brazilian coffee trees due to last week's price frost are also pushing prices up.
Compared to the beginning of last week, both London and New York exchanges increased sharply. Robusta increased by more than 600 USD/ton, Arabica increased by more than 50 cents/lb, bringing world coffee prices to new highs. This development also contributes to attracting domestic coffee prices.
