Compared to the session on May 6, this decrease extended the slight adjustment series from the peak of 130,800 VND/kg recorded on April 29. Thus, in just over a week, domestic coffee prices have lost about VND2,500/kg in some key regions.
World coffee price developments
On the London Stock Exchange, Robusta coffee prices adjusted slightly in the most recent session:
7: 5,256 USD/ton (down 35 USD)
September term: May 201 USD/ton (down 30 USD)
Although it decreased, this price is still higher than at the end of April, when Robusta was only around 5,091 USD/ton (phase 22.4).
In contrast, Arabica continued to rise on the New York stock exchange:
Monthly term: 389.85 cents/lb (up 1.60 cents)
September term: 383.75 cents/lb (up 1.95 cents)
Since the 3.5-session session, Arabica coffee prices have increased for three consecutive sessions, accumulating an increase of more than 4 cents/lb.
trend assessment
The global coffee market continues to be affected by concerns about supply in Vietnam - the world's largest Robusta importer. Meanwhile, Arabica was supported by net buying by hedge funds and the prospect of Brazilian supply not exploding as expected.
However, reports show that the weather in key growing areas is improving, along with Brazil starting theillon harvest, which could put downward pressure on prices in the short term.
