Domestic coffee prices today
The domestic coffee market this morning, April 30, unexpectedly turned down sharply on the first day of the holiday.
Key localities in the Central Highlands simultaneously reduced purchasing prices by 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the regional average price to the milestone of 87,700 VND/kg.
In Dak Nong (old), coffee prices are currently anchored at 87,800 VND/kg, while Dak Lak and Gia Lai are trading at the threshold of 87,600 VND/kg.
Riêng khu vực Lâm Đồng ghi nhận mức thu mua thấp nhất là 87. 100 đồng/kg. Ngược lại với sự trầm lắng của cà phê, giá tiêu lại có phiên bứt phá thêm 2. 000 đồng, đạt mức 143. 000 đồng/kg.
World coffee prices
On the international exchange, Robusta coffee prices in London for July delivery closed last session with a decrease of 39 USD (equivalent to 1.12%), falling to 3,442 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, the New York exchange recorded Arabica futures for July standing still at 290.70 cents/lb. The strength of the USD is a barrier preventing coffee prices from maintaining their recovery momentum, although Arabica inventories have fallen to their lowest level in 2 months and Robusta inventories are also anchored at a 16-month low.
Coffee price assessment and forecast
Speculatory sentiment is currently overwhelmed by forecasts of a "super surplus" crop year for Brazil with a record output of 75.9 million sacks.
StoneX estimates that the global coffee surplus in 2026 will expand to 10 million bags, the highest number in the past 6 years.
In addition, Vietnam's strong export growth in the first quarter (up 14% to 585,000 tons) continues to put downward pressure on the Robusta river.
However, transport bottlenecks in the Strait of Hormuz and drought in Brazil are still variables that could trigger unexpected technical recovery waves in the near future.
