World pepper prices: Rise
According to the International Pepper Association (IPC), world pepper prices are rising.
Indonesian black pepper price ended last week at 7,011 USD/ton, an increase of 128 USD/ton compared to the beginning of the week. At the same time of the survey, Indonesian white pepper price was quoted at 9,339 USD/ton, an increase of 11 USD/ton.
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 continued to increase to the 6.175 USD/ton mark. Meanwhile, the price of black and white ASTA Malaysia pepper remained unchanged, selling at 9,000 USD/ton and 12,000 USD/ton respectively.
In Vietnam, export black pepper prices are trending sideways in the range of 6,400-6,600 USD/ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l types. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices are currently at 9,150 USD/ton.
Assessments and forecasts
After a short recovery at the end of February, the domestic pepper market turned down slightly on the weekend. The continuous ups and downs show that supply and demand are in a state of stalemate, especially when the main harvest season enters its peak, and new supply to the market increases. The market is currently assessed to be in the process of self-adjustment, finding a new balance point between supply and demand.
Regarding exports, according to data from the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in January 2026, Vietnam exported 21.66 thousand tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 139.2 million USD. Compared to the previous month, the volume decreased slightly by 1.6% and the value decreased by 4%, but compared to the same period in 2025, it increased sharply by 67.9% in volume and 60% in value. The average export price reached 6,429 USD/ton, a slight decrease compared to the whole month and the same period.
The export structure shows that black pepper still accounts for the leading proportion, but white pepper exports increased sharply, reflecting the trend of product diversification.
