Domestic pepper prices: Continue to increase strongly
As of 1:00 p.m. today (March 13), domestic pepper prices continued to increase, increasing by an average of 600 VND/kg compared to the previous trading session. Currently, the purchase price ranges from 159,000 - 161,000 VND/kg. The average pepper purchase price nationwide is at 160,200 VND/kg.
Recorded the lowest increase among provinces and cities, only 500 VND/kg, Gia Lai is currently also the province with the lowest pepper purchasing price in the country, anchored at 159,500 VND/kg.
Increasing by 1,000 VND/kg, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc provinces listed pepper prices at 160,000 VND/kg.
In the same direction, Dak Lak province is also covered in green today, increasing by 500 VND/kg, selling to the market at 161,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Dak Nong kept the previous trading price at 161,000 VND/kg. This is also the highest mark since the beginning of the week.

World pepper prices: Sky-high increase and decrease
According to the International Pepper Community, on trading floors, black and white pepper prices on the Indonesian market continued to fall after a flat trading session. Black pepper prices decreased slightly by 0.14%, listed at 7,254 USD/ton (equivalent to 185,993 VND/kg). The same price of white pepper was announced at 10,237 USD/ton (equivalent to 262,477 VND/kg).
For the Brazilian market, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper is trading at 6,900 USD/ton.
Meanwhile, in the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices have remained unchanged for many days, anchored at 9,800 USD/ton and 12,300 USD/ton.
Notably, in Vietnam, exported black pepper prices continued to remain unchanged. The 500 g/l type is traded at 7,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 179,480 VND/kg); the 550 g/l type is currently at 7,200 USD/ton (equivalent to 184,608 VND/kg). Similarly, the price of white pepper for export is at 10,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 256,400 VND/kg).

In the Indian market, pepper prices remain unchanged in most pepper cultivars. Garbled pepper costs 67,200 rupees/kg, (equivalent to 203,576 VND/kg), Ungarbled is listed at 65.200 rupees/kg, while gram/liter has the lowest price of 64,200 rupees/kg (exchanged at 194,488 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to the Center for Industrial and Trade Information - Ministry of Industry and Trade (VITIC), the pepper harvest in 2025 is taking place, and will peak in March and April. Global pepper output is forecast to continue to decrease in 2025, due to shrinking cultivated areas in Vietnam and unfavorable weather in India. In particular, India's pepper output may decrease by 20-25%, mainly due to unfavorable weather in Karnataka - a state in southwestern India famous for pepper production.
According to data from Vietnam Customs, in February, Vietnam's pepper exports reached 14,345 tons with a value of 97.2 million USD, up 10.7% in volume and 11% in value compared to the previous month, while also increasing by 7.2% in volume and 79.1% in value compared to the same period last year.
In the first 2 months of the year, the total export of this item reached 27,274 tons, worth 184.4 million USD, although it decreased by 11.6% in volume, it increased by 48.5% in value over the same period.
Vietnam's average pepper export price in February reached 6,774 USD/ton, up 0.3% compared to January and up 67.1% compared to February 2024. In the first 2 months of the year, the average pepper export price reached 6,763 USD/ton, up 68% over the same period last year.
