World pepper price

According to data from the International Pepper Corporation (IPC), pepper prices last week fluctuated in opposite directions.

Indonesian black pepper prices increased by 29 USD/ton, equivalent to 0.43%, to 6,851 USD/ton. Similarly, white pepper prices also recorded an increase of 0.45%, equivalent to 40 USD/ton in the past week, reaching 9,380 USD/ton.

In other markets, the price of Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper continued to stabilize at 5,900 USD/ton, while the price of Malaysian black pepper reached 9,300 USD/ton.

Notably, Malaysian black and white pepper prices still maintained prices of 9,300 USD/ton and 12,200 USD/ton in the past week.

In Vietnam's pepper export market, the price of black pepper type 500 g/l slightly increased to 5,990, while white pepper type 550 g/l is currently at 6,050 USD/ton. Meanwhile, ASTA white pepper price is offered for sale at 8,400 USD/ton.

Assessments and forecasts

Although domestic prices have been unchanged in the price range for 2 consecutive weeks, below the threshold of 140,000 VND/kg, the export base is still a factor that can support the market in the last months of the year.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), in the first 7 months of 2026, Vietnam exported 168,429 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 1.087 billion USD, an increase of 16.1% in volume and 10.1% in value compared to the same period in 2025. In July alone, exports reached 22,743 tons, worth 147.3 million USD.

World pepper supply from the beginning of the year has remained low while demand in many major markets shows signs of recovery. Global inventory is estimated at about 170,000 tons, of which Vietnam is about 50,000-60,000 tons. Vietnam's pepper crop in 2026 is estimated at about 170,000 tons, down 12.8% compared to the previous year.

These are factors that can be a support for prices if import demand increases in the late year.
