On August 16, a representative of the Organizing Committee of the Dak Lak Durian Festival 2026 said that they are verifying the man wearing the KOL card of the Organizing Committee, who was reported to have made vulgar statements when participating in a pickup truck convoy carrying durian.
According to the Organizing Committee, after verification, if there are violations, the unit will remind and revoke KOL cards. The list of KOLs participating in the event is also provided to the Police force for monitoring. In case of violations, they will be handled according to regulations.
Previously, on the afternoon of August 15, the Organizing Committee of the World's Longest Durian Pickup Truck Convoy - Dak Lak Durian Association organized a general rehearsal of the Guinness record-setting program "World's Longest Durian Pickup Truck Convoy" on Vo Nguyen Giap street.
During the general rehearsal, a social media account with more than 100,000 followers posted a clip, recording images of a man making inappropriate statements.
Notably, this person wore the KOL card of the Organizing Committee and stood behind the back of a pickup truck carrying durian, in a group of about 500 vehicles participating in the general rehearsal.
The video was then posted on social networks and received many reactions. Some opinions suggest that inappropriate statements, especially from KOL wearers, may affect the image of the festival and the people of Dak Lak.
The Organizing Committee said they are specifically verifying the person appearing in the video to have appropriate handling measures if violations are identified.
After the clip was spread on social networks, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hiep, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province, affirmed that he would strictly handle this case and also admitted his shortcomings: "The issuance of KOL cards is filtered and only 60/300 registered friends are issued.
Immediately after the incident was discovered, account H.P publicly apologized for posting a video with humorous content, accompanied by insensitive and inappropriate words. This person admitted that the above action could cause offense, affect viewers' emotions and negatively impact the festival image.
