Domestic pepper prices: Gia Lai continues to fall
As of 11:30 today (18.), the domestic pepper market fluctuated slightly, with an average decrease of 100 VND/kg. Currently, pepper purchasing prices range from 132,500 - 134,000 VND/kg.
Key provinces and cities such as Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc remain at 133,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces are anchored at 134,000 VND/kg.
Gia Lai province alone continued to decrease slightly by VND 500/kg, bringing the price to VND 132,500/kg.

World pepper prices: Strong fluctuations
In the world market, pepper prices have changed after a series of stable days. The Indonesian exchange - one of the most vibrant markets reversed to increase prices. Currently, these two items are listed at 7,506 USD/ton; increased slightly by 0.09% (equivalent to 197,010 VND/kg). At the same increase, white pepper was listed at 10,139 USD/ton (about 266,119 VND/kg).
In Vietnam, the export prices of black pepper of 500 g/l and 550 g/l have both decreased, causing prices to fluctuate between 6,000 - 6,100 USD/ton, down 5% and 4.92%, respectively. ASTA white pepper prices moved in the same direction, down more than 3%, reaching 9,000 USD/ton (equivalent to 236,223 VND/kg).
The Brazilian exchange slid by 2.07%, pepper prices in this region are currently at 6,050 USD/ton (about 158,795 VND/kg). Meanwhile, the Malaysian market continues to move sideways. Malaysia's white rice continues to hold the highest price globally at 11,850 USD/ton (equivalent to 311,027 VND/kg).

Assessment and forecast
According to information from the Customs Department, in just the first 5 months of 2025, Vietnamese pepper has "finished" 99,900 tons, bringing in impressive revenue of 690.4 million USD. Although exports decreased slightly by 12.5% compared to the same period last year, the value increased sharply by 40.5%. The average export price of Vietnamese pepper is up to 6,910 USD/ton, an increase of 61.1% compared to 2024.
Of which, the three most importing markets, accounting for nearly 41% in volume and nearly half of the total export turnover value, are: the United States - a "difficult" market but spending the most. In just five months, the United States spent nearly $185 million to import 24,687 tons of pepper. Although import volumes have decreased, about 18.9%, the value has increased by 34.8% compared to the same period in 2024, showing the strong attraction of Vietnamese pepper.
