According to data from the General Department of Customs, in the first 18 days of February 2025, Vietnam imported 1,297 tons of pepper, worth 5.9 million USD. Indonesia and Brazil are the two main suppliers, accounting for 66.9% and 23.1% of total import output, respectively. Although the global pepper supply is currently in short supply, pepper prices are still expected to remain high in the coming time.
In addition, according to the Vietnam Pepper Association, the export volume to the US in January 2025 increased by more than 20% over the same period last year. harsh weather and epidemics on pepper plants also affect output, causing continued supply to shrink.
Pepper prices return to increase, helping farmers make more profits and regain confidence in the agricultural product that was once considered the "black gold" of the Central Highlands. The provinces in this region will promote the application of advanced farming techniques, increasing the area of intercropped pepper to reduce epidemics.
