Assessments and forecasts
In Vietnam and some key production areas of Brazil and India, the harvest season has ended. This year's crop results are assessed as contrasting between major producing countries.
Pepper production in Vietnam and India continues to decrease, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain during the flowering and harvesting stages, reducing yields in many growing areas. Especially in India, prolonged humid weather also increases pests and diseases in key production states.
In 2026, Vietnam's pepper production is estimated to reach 155 thousand tons when the harvest season was completed at the end of April. This is not really high output compared to the previous peak period, reflecting the trend that pepper growing areas are no longer expanding strongly as in previous years due to price fluctuations and increased production costs.
