Domestic pepper prices
As of 12:30 PM today (September 8), the average domestic pepper price is at 138,500 VND/kg, a sharp increase of 2,800 VND/kg compared to the previous closing session. Currently, the listed price range is in the range of 137,000 - 141,000 VND/kg.
At the end of the recent trading session, Gia Lai and Dong Nai respectively increased by 2,000 VND/kg and 2,500 VND/kg, anchored at the threshold of 137,000 VND/kg.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City increased by 2,500 VND/kg, bringing it to the market at a price of 137,500 VND/kg.
In the same direction, Dak Lak announced a price of 140,000 VND/kg, an increase of 3,500 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong, pepper prices are currently at the highest level in the region at 141,000 VND/kg, a sharp increase of 4,000 VND/kg compared to the closing session yesterday.
World pepper price
In the world market, pepper prices continue to stabilize in all countries. Indonesia's black and white peppers are no exception, trading in the range of 6,929 - 9,487 USD/ton (equivalent to 182,129 VND/kg - 249,366 VND/kg).
In the same direction, the price of Brazilian black pepper sold to the market is 5,750 USD/ton (about 151.139 VND/kg). Black and white Malaysian peppers still maintain the same price range, trading at high prices, respectively 12,200 USD/ton and 9,300 USD/ton.
Notably, in Vietnam's pepper export market, black pepper prices of 500 g/l and 550 g/l are traded at 5,990 - 6,050 USD/ton. ASTA white pepper is offered for sale at 8,400 USD/ton (equivalent to 220,794 VND/kg).
Assessments and forecasts
After many days of sideways movement, without changing price ranges, domestic pepper has witnessed a breakthrough increase. Compared to the same period 2 months ago, pepper prices are still 500 VND/kg lower, but 1,500 VND/kg higher than in August.
According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Plant Association (VPSA), in August 2026, Vietnam exported 21,724 tons of pepper, reaching a turnover of 140.9 million USD. Compared to July, export volume decreased by 4.5%, value decreased by 4.3%, but still increased slightly by 1.2% in volume compared to the same period in August 2025.
In August, Asia continued to be the region playing a driving role for Vietnam's pepper exports. Exports to this region reached 11,596 tons, up 11.6% compared to July and accounting for 53.4% of total exports in the month.
Notably, China recorded a very strong increase. Vietnam exported 3,385 tons of pepper to this market in August, an increase of 81.4% compared to 1,866 tons in July. In just one month, the amount of pepper exported to China increased by an additional 1,519 tons, thereby significantly contributing to compensating for the decline in some traditional markets.
