According to many people, this is an important time, deciding whether the peach tree will have many buds, many flowers and bloom in time for Tet or not. In addition, peach care must also be based on actual weather conditions to make appropriate adjustments.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (residing in Quang Chinh commune, Quang Xuong district), the work of growing peach trees for Tet takes a long time, even several years, to produce a beautiful peach tree. However, even if you have a beautiful peach tree, if you do not take care of it properly, it will still fail.
“In the months leading up to Tet, usually the 11th lunar month, this is considered a very important time. Peach growers must take care of the peach blossoms so that they bloom in time for Tet. Otherwise, the crop will be lost and the appointment will be delayed until next year’s Tet,” Ms. Nga shared.
Mr. Le Van Ngoc (residing in Quang Chinh commune, Quang Xuong district) said that peach growers fear the most cold weather, drizzle and frost, because they will slow down the growth of peach trees. In case of unfavorable weather, peach growers will have to adjust the amount of water for the trees, choose the most appropriate time to strip the leaves, helping the peach trees grow well and bloom on time.
“With the current weather, peach growers are rushing to strip leaves and pluck the trees to stimulate them to bloom in time to supply the upcoming Tet market. Hopefully this year, peaches will sell for a good price so that peach growers like us can have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet,” Mr. Ngoc shared.
According to peach growers in Quang Chinh commune, the double-flowered peach blossoms here are different from those grown in many other places because the flowers are large and have many layers of petals. On average, each peach blossom has 20-30 petals, blooms for a long time, is durable and has a very fresh flower color. Therefore, in recent years, Quang Chinh double-flowered peach blossoms have been favored by many people.
A representative of the People's Committee of Quang Chinh commune said that the locality currently has about 35 hectares of peach growing area. Thanks to the peach growing model for Tet, many households have had high incomes, and many families have even become well-off thanks to the peach growing profession.
