Considered the largest flower "capital" of Ninh Binh - Ninh Phuc flower village (Ninh Binh city) these days has a bustling, urgent atmosphere taking place in all the gardens.
On her family's area of over 1,000 square meters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh (Doai Thuong village) is also mobilizing maximum human and material resources to take care of flowers in time for the season.
Ms. Oanh shared that the flowers in her garden such as primroses, dahlias, gerberas, lilies... are growing well. Her family is currently taking advantage of every day, every hour to take care of the flower garden to achieve the highest productivity.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Mui - one of the largest flower garden owners in Ninh Phuc flower village - shared that for nearly a month now, his family has had to install an electric lighting system to turn on at night to stimulate flowers to sell in time for Tet.
According to Mr. Mui, this year due to unfavorable weather, flower care is also difficult and requires more effort. At the beginning of the season, the prolonged hot weather affected the planting schedule. Then there was heavy rain, so many areas were damaged, and people had to take care of them again.
To limit damage, gardeners have invested in greenhouses, net houses, tarpaulins, electric lines, etc. to proactively take care of flowers.
"Lighting at night prevents chrysanthemums from "sleeping", turning night into day to control harvest time" - Mr. Mui shared.
According to gardeners in Ninh Phuc flower village, this year due to the impact of storm No. 3, flower growing areas in many other localities in the North have been affected, and supply is not guaranteed. Therefore, traders from distant provinces have come to Ninh Phuc flower village to place orders to serve the Tet market, the number of orders is much larger and earlier than in previous years.
With many years of experience in growing and caring for flowers, gardeners in Ninh Phuc flower village have actively applied science and technology, invested in greenhouses, membrane houses, used automatic irrigation and misting systems, etc. to proactively take care of the plants, reduce labor and control diseases. Thereby, contributing to improving productivity and income from flower growing, estimated at about 50 million VND/sao/year.
Ninh Phuc flower village currently has about 14.8 hectares, of which chrysanthemums account for about 7 hectares, the rest are peonies, lilies, gerberas, primroses, orchids, roses... In particular, "Golden Chrysanthemums" of Ninh Phuc Flower Cooperative has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product.
