Export rice prices recover
In the context of rice export prices in many countries tending to decrease, Vietnam's rice exports are recording a remarkable recovery. According to the latest updated information from the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 5% broken rice is currently reaching 400 USD/ton, an increase of 2 USD/ton compared to last week. This is a positive sign for Vietnam's rice export industry in recent times.
Not only 5% broken rice, other types of rice in Vietnam also have strong growth. 100% broken rice costs 325 USD/ton, recording a sharp increase of 12 USD/ton compared to last week. 25% broken rice is being traded at 369 USD/ton, remaining stable.
Meanwhile, other countries such as Thailand and India have all seen rice export prices decrease. Thailand's 5% broken rice fell $2 a ton to $40/ton, while India recorded a $1 a ton loss for the type of rice, reaching $39/ton.
Supermarkets and traditional markets adjust prices of many types of rice
At retail markets, rice prices continue to fluctuate with some types increasing slightly compared to previous days. Nang Nhen rice currently has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg, while common rice types such as Soc Thai rice, Jasmine rice and Huong Lai rice range from VND18,000 - 22,000/kg. Common white rice costs about 17,000 VND/kg.
Recorded by Lao Dong reporters at some traditional markets and supermarkets in Hanoi on March 31, many types of rice are being adjusted to increase in price. At supermarkets like GO! Thang Long (Cau Giay, Hanoi), prices of some types of rice have increased quite strongly compared to the previous 20 days. Bao Minh ST25 3kg rice price increased from 99,500 VND/bag to 138,900 VND/bag. ST25 Rice 5kg Shrimp Rice was previously priced at 190,900 VND/bag, now increased to 205,000 VND/bag. Meanwhile, Neptune Thom ST25 Special 5kg rice is priced at 134,500 VND/bag.
However, there are also some types of brown rice that have recorded slight price reductions, such as mixed brown rice of 10 types of 1kg nuts decreased from 58,400 VND/bag to 56,000 VND/bag, fragrant ST25 Simply 1kg brown rice decreased from 52,900 VND/bag to 42,500 VND/bag.
Latest update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, rice and rice prices are currently fluctuating slightly. Fresh rice prices in An Giang such as Dai Thom 8 rice and OM 18 rice range from 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg, while IR 50404 and OM 5451 rice prices range from 5,600 - 5,900 VND/kg. The price of Miss Hoa 9 rice is currently from 6,300 - 6,500 VND/kg. However, it is noted that in many localities, buying and selling transactions are still taking place slowly, especially in Dong Thap and Long An.
In Soc Trang, winter-spring rice has decreased sharply in supply.
