Last week, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a medal award ceremony for senior officers of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) on December 13.
Accordingly, 34 senior officers of the Vietnam People's Army with outstanding achievements in the cause of building the army, strengthening national defense and protecting the Fatherland were awarded the Military Exploit Order and the Fatherland Protection Order by President Luong Cuong. This activity coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day.
Among the 34 senior officials receiving medals, 10 generals received the Third Class Military Exploit Medal.
They are: Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; 4 Senior Lieutenant Generals, Deputy Ministers of National Defense: Vo Minh Luong, Vu Hai San, Hoang Xuan Chien, Pham Hoai Nam;
Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army;
Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh - former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, now Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau - former Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics, now Secretary of the Bac Giang Provincial Party Committee;
Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh - Deputy Chief of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
At the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - awarded the Third Class Military Exploit Order to the above-mentioned officers.
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense - awarded the First, Second and Third Class Fatherland Protection Medals to 24 commanding officers of agencies and units.
According to Article 41 of the 2022 Law on Emulation and Commendation, the Third Class Military Exploit Order is awarded or posthumously awarded to individuals who have well implemented the Party's guidelines and policies and laws of the State and meet one of the following criteria:
a) Have a long history of dedication to the people's armed forces;
b) Having achieved outstanding achievements in combat, combat service, training, force building, consolidating national defense and people's security, being exemplary nationwide.
