"Soul, lifeblood" of the Army
On December 12, in Hanoi, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its Traditional Day (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and receive the First Class Independence Medal.
In the solemn atmosphere of the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - awarded the First Class Independence Medal to the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
At the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army - on behalf of the leaders of the General Department of Politics presented a commemorative speech, affirming: On December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team was established; right from the first day of its establishment, the Team had a Party cell (4 Party members), held the position of political commissar and carried out Party and political activities (CTD, CTCT).
That shows that having an Army means having the Party's leadership over the Army and having grassroots and grassroots-level activities; the Army's founding day is also the traditional day of the General Department of Politics; the development of the General Department of Politics and grassroots and grassroots-level activities are always closely associated with the process of building, fighting, winning and maturing of the heroic Vietnam People's Army.
The 80-year practice of building, fighting, winning and maturing of our Army has affirmed the particularly important role of the Party's leadership, the Party's leadership and the responsibility of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, political agencies and political cadres at all levels of the entire army in consolidating, maintaining and enhancing the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party over the Army; building a politically strong Army; building political and spiritual factors, the basic factors that determine the fighting strength and victory of our Army, making the Party's leadership, the Party's leadership become the "soul and lifeblood" of the Army, the basic principle in building the Party's revolutionary armed forces.
Building a solid "people's hearts"
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam - Secretary of the Central Military Commission - expressed his joy and excitement when realizing that over the years, the General Department of Politics has continuously promoted its glorious tradition, raised its will, overcome all difficulties and challenges, and excellently completed its assigned tasks.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam congratulated and commended the outstanding achievements, remarkable growth and glorious traditions of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years.
Faced with new and extremely difficult requirements and tasks, in order to fulfill its great functions and responsibilities, General Secretary To Lam requested the General Department of Politics, political agencies and political cadres in the entire army to inherit and constantly promote the fine traditions of the nation, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the glorious traditions of the General Department of Politics, strengthen solidarity, unity, proactiveness, creativity, and strive to fulfill assigned tasks in all situations.
Referring to many groups of tasks, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the General Department of Politics needs to focus on advising on the implementation of policies and solutions to build a clean and strong exemplary Army Party Committee, improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party committees and organizations at all levels in the entire army. Proactively coordinate closely with central and local departments, ministries, branches, and organizations in building a national defense foundation, a national defense posture, especially a solid "people's hearts posture".
