On February 26, the National Election Council organized a national online conference to deploy the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term.
At the conference, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Gau affirmed that in the coming time, the Ministry will promote propaganda and education for officers and soldiers throughout the army, strictly maintain the duty and combat readiness regime throughout the army; ensure close coordination with forces to ensure absolute safety for the election.
Along with that, proactively fight, prevent, and neutralize the sabotage plots of hostile forces; promptly orient awareness and ideology for cadres, soldiers and people.
Regarding the allocation of candidates, Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Van Gau said that based on the number of military deputies allocated by the National Assembly Standing Committee to participate in the 16th National Assembly election, the Ministry of National Defense has directed a political review of 100% of personnel participating in the election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels.
At the same time, organizing confidence votes in accordance with regulations for 31/31 military officers participating in the 16th National Assembly election, the confidence rate reached 100%.
In localities, 34 provinces and cities have military officers participating in the election of People's Councils at all levels. Among them, 12 provinces and cities structured 2 comrades to participate in the election; the remaining 22 provinces and cities each structured 1 comrade.
Specifically, commune-level military officers had 3,038 comrades participating in the election of commune-level People's Council delegates.
Regarding the key tasks that the entire army will focus on implementing from now until the election day, the Deputy Minister of National Defense said that he will continue to promote propaganda and education for officers, soldiers, professional soldiers... to actively participate in early voting, in accordance with regulations.
