On January 14, 2025, speaking at a meeting with Vietnamese press agencies at the end of the year, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said that in the context of many fluctuations and instabilities in the world and the region, Vietnam continues to be a bright spot in foreign affairs and socio-economic development.
As an important part of the country's foreign affairs work, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the foreign information work, commended the close coordination and dedicated contributions of press agencies and localities in "telling a story of Vietnam as a peaceful, independent, self-reliant, stable, developing, dynamic country, a safe and attractive destination, an active and responsible member of the international community, firmly entering a new era, an era of national growth" to compatriots, soldiers nationwide and international friends across the five continents.
Sharing the difficulties and hardships of reporters and editors, the “leaders and followers” in information and reporting activities, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that each reporter and press editor, with a sense of responsibility and enthusiasm, has always overcome difficulties to fully, accurately and promptly convey information as well as promptly fight and refute false and hostile arguments, firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation.
In 2025, Vietnam will aim to celebrate important national anniversaries such as the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country, the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Diplomatic Sector, etc.
In addition, Vietnam will also carry out important bilateral and multilateral foreign affairs activities such as the 2nd ASEAN Future Forum, the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 Summit (P4G), and organize the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention “Hanoi Convention” on Cybercrime, etc.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son believes that domestic press agencies “will continue to better promote the soft power of the Vietnamese people” and through these important events, “continue to strongly spread the image of a rising Vietnam, not only mobilizing resources for the country’s socio-economic development but also, more importantly, connecting Vietnam with the world, cultivating friendship with other nations, and increasing the country’s position and influence.”
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper - said that with the important information orientation of the Party and State, the support of technology and the efforts of each press agency, the press has made positive and effective contributions in propagating many important foreign affairs activities of the country, thereby contributing to spreading positive information about the country's important achievements to the international community and friends.
Sharing important information and propaganda tasks in 2025, Mr. Le Quoc Minh believes that the press force will overcome difficulties and successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People.
