According to Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Toan: In 1985, exactly 10 years after the country's reunification, Vietnamese revolutionary journalism was facing a pivotal moment, preparing to enter renovation. In that context, the idea of a newspaper for young people was formed from people who used to operate in the Southern urban student and student movement before 1975.
From the ideas of Dr. Huynh Tan Mam and the support of central agencies, Thanh Nien Newspaper officially was born on January 3, 1986. According to Mr. Toan, overcoming many difficulties, successive generations have inherited the dedication and aspirations of pioneers, contributing their youth to nurture the newspaper's increasing development. Thanh Nien Newspaper is a newspaper that actively supports innovating state management thinking, especially policies for young people, students, and entrepreneurs; resolutely fights against negativity, corruption, and wastefulness; pioneering the gathering, unity, and mobilization of young people from all walks of life at home and abroad.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Ngoc Toan affirmed that generations of journalists always cherish and express gratitude to the founders and agencies that have supported the policy of building a newspaper for young people across the country, and affirmed that after 40 years, the vision and belief of the predecessors have been placed in the right place.
