Mr. Quang emphasized that the merger of Quang Nam - Da Nang is not simply an administrative decision but a strategic step, opening up new development space, creating new momentum and enhancing the position of Da Nang City in the region and the whole country.
"We will continue to harmoniously develop urban areas, rural areas, mountainous areas, sea and islands; preserve and promote the cultural identity of the land of Quang - Da; so that every citizen feels proud of a new Da Nang City: peaceful, livable, and worth visiting" - Mr. Quang said.
The orientation of sustainable and comprehensive development has been emphasized from the central level. According to Politburo member and Standing member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu: The merger is not only an administrative event but also a strategic turning point in regional and national development. The new government model will be closer to the people, serve better and more effectively".
From July 1, 2025, Da Nang City will have an area of nearly 12,000km2 and a population of more than 3 million people, making it the largest centrally-governed city in the country. This is a favorable condition for the city to form multi-dimensional development axes: from forests to the sea, from mountains to islands, from the old town to smart cities.
Regarding culture - tourism, the unity has erased the blurred boundary that has been closely linked for a long time. Quang Nam - Da Nang is a common destination on the international tourism map, where 90% of tourists coming to a locality visit the other locality. Da Nang is strong in resort and event tourism; Quang Nam has strengths in cultural and ecological tourism. Merging not only increases scale but also improves the ability to create new, regional, non- Internal tourism products.
Da Nang only owns more than half a million hectares of primeval forest - the largest area in the country, including Song Thanh National Park, Sun Tra reserve, Cu Lao Cham world biosphere reserve. This is a foundation for developing green tourism, community, and environmental education.
Along with that, logistics and high-tech industry will be two new spearheads. To the South is Chu Lai Open Economic Zone - a center for automobile, mechanical and supporting industry production. The new Da Nang City is also authorized to pilot the Free Trade Zone (FTZ), an international financial center - a specific model of investment mechanisms, taxes, human resources, and digital transformation. More than 3 million people in Quang Nam - Da Nang today are entering a new phase. The expectations are great, but it is also an opportunity to create a model city - where rural people have sustainable jobs, mountainous people are taken care of for their livelihoods, the sea and island areas are firmly developed, the city develops civilizedly but does not lose the cultural soul.
